The new year celebrations are not over yet! On the 5th of February, people will be celebrating the Lunar New Year. This holiday is China’s most important holiday and has been celebrated by more than 20% of the world. On this holiday, people welcome spring and what it brings along: planting and harvests and new beginnings. This Chinese holiday includes their own unique horoscopes that include 12 zodiac signs based on years instead of months. For this new year, 2019 is the year of the pig!
In honor of this holiday, San Gabriel celebrates their annual festival called the San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival. This festival is heavily influenced by Chinese culture and emphasizes ethnic diversity, Chinese culture and exposure to Chinese-American businesses. The festival will consist of the Street Food Fair, Marketplace, Carnival Games, Chalk Art Contest, and Kids Zone. Come and experience Chinese culture in front of your own eyes! Below are everything you need to know about the event.
