There are many things that students of South Gate High School should be taking advantage of, and one is ELAC classes which are offered during the Fall and Spring semesters. ELAC classes are free to students of our school and it gives you an opportunity to start getting college credit while in high school. This is an amazing benefit because when you go to college you won’t have to retake the class if the credits are transferable credits and many times if you take enough classes you can enter college as a sophomore. These classes save time and money which is essential while in college and it’s never too early to start planning ahead.
ELAC classes are offered after school and they typically meet one to two times a week. Classes are taught by college professors, so you get a sense of what college and the curriculum are going to be like.
If you are planning to take a class next semester signups are already taking place and spots will be taken quickly. The classes that will be offered are Administration of Justice, Chicano Studies 2, Child Development, Psychology 1, Robotics, and American Sign Language. To sign up you must first create an online account at elac.edu and then you must take a picture of your confirmation code to show to Mrs. Corona or the ELAC representative who is here Tuesdays and Thursdays, to get an additional application.
