Getting schoolwork done can often be a very stressful and demanding task, especially when you have other responsibilities to keep up with. The repetitiveness of homework and other school assignments can become tedious, making you want to procrastinate or not do it at all. This lack of motivation makes it easy to develop bad work habits, such as ineffective time management. However, it is very important to stay on top of your schoolwork to avoid falling behind in your classes. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you be successful this school year:
- Prioritize your time: Make sure that you are aware of all the responsibilities you must keep up with to avoid overlooking any of them. Once you have compiled a list, determine which ones are the most essential and then organize your time accordingly. A great way to do this would be by keeping a daily agenda, which can help organize other aspects of your life in addition to school.
- Limit your screen time: Constantly being online or on different social media platforms can be a big distraction keeping you from doing homework or other important tasks. To avoid spending unnecessary time on your phone, designate a certain amount of time to it prior to starting homework and leave it in a separate room until you complete your assignments. Cutting down screen time is a great way of making more time for homework or other extracurriculars.
- Make the most of your time in class: Don’t waste class time on things that are irrelevant to the class you are in. If you get all your work done while you’re in class, it is likely that you’ll have less to do at home and more time for yourself.
- Find something interesting or challenging in each of your classes: It is always important to feel engaged or challenged in school because this will keep you motivated and prevent you from getting bored in class. By keeping yourself interested, you are more likely to put in the effort that the work requires, and find yourself willing to complete your assignments.
