Ever wondered why it seemed like people were more hairy in November? The increase of facial hair is not only a result of No Shave November, but also that of Movember.
No Shave November is a web-based nonprofit movement where people donate the money they save from not shaving in the month of November to cancer research and cancer education programs. You can raise awareness by sporting a beard, mustache, or even hairy legs. You can also join in and show support for others who are embracing the cause by buying bracelets sold on the No Shave November website.
Movember is an international nonprofit organization, founded in Australia in 2003, that promotes awareness of men’s premature death. The funds raised from growing a “Mo”, which is Australian slang for “moustache”, is used to fund the research of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, men’s mental health, and suicide prevention. The “Mo” is like a furry awareness ribbon and as more people begin to ask about Movember mustaches, more donate to the cause. Although Movember is best known for the growth of a mustache, you can also support the cause by visiting their website and becoming a “mo bro” or a “mo sista”!
