Daisy Silva is a South Gate High School senior who has been playing soccer since the age of 10. When asked how she became interested in the game she says, “Soccer has been a sport that has always been around in my family, the more my family demonstrated the fundamental parts of a soccer game, the more it interested me.” Her grandfather nurtured her passion. He lectured her and showed her new techniques to help improve her skills. It was her grandfather who helped her develop her motto, “Never give up because nothing is given to you if you don’t try”.
She says, that being a part of the soccer team has turned out to be an amazing experience. During her sophomore year she earned the privilege to be captain of the J.V team. She really enjoys the support of teammates, friends, and family. However it is only when you’ve faced the hard at times as a team that you realize how great it is to be part of a team.
She says, “In life mistakes are proof that you are trying. People tend to make mistakes and through these mistakes we learn.” It is normal to stumble as we try to reach our goals, it is how we surpass our challenges that count. Mistakes, challenges, and findings are just part of the whole process to any accomplishment. She also shares that, the rough times are what help determine your success.
